Hey. I know I have seen it but I must admit that I didn’t take much notice to details. I’m talking about the new Britney Spears video for her song Womanizer. It features Britney playing multiple parts while being watched through the lens of a mobile phone. It turns out that it is a cleverly thought out move from Nokia who is just launching their new phone called Nokia 5800, or “tube”.
The phone is targeting young people in the ages of 15-25 and “comes with music”. This means that you get one years free access to the Nokia music store where users can get unlimited pick of their music. This could be a problem. Do we need ANOTHER place to store our music? What about our music on Itunes and mp3 player, is it transferable. I think that in order to be truly competetive the users have to be able to transfer their previous music onto the phone. I also see an issue in not being able to share the music once it is on my phone, isn’t that the whole point? I mean, when asked, kids today name being able to share their music as a major issue. How will the Nokia 5800 solve this problem?
